This series is focused on planning literature responses, and how to adapt planning for different papers and abilities. There are three sessions which cost £15 for the set of three and are available here at the CPD shop page. The sessions include the rationale behind the structure, what the plan looks like (with videos) and then examples of students using the planning structure AND the responses they produce. They each include teaching strategies and revision strategies.. We begin with a session on extract and whole text exams. Then we look at comparison exams (for example poetry comparison). The final session looks at how to adapt planning for students with the higher grades. To purchase, return to the shop page. If you’d like to look at a range of reviews for the sessions, click here.
Extract and whole text exams
This session focuses on the rationale behind planning, followed by a suggested structure for full text and extract papers. The session goes through what a plan should look like and then how to teach planning, with specific strategies.
In addition to the large resource folder, this session includes a video suite of 5 videos which can be used with students for revision.

Comparison essay planning
This session took place shortly after the examiners reports were published for 2023, so looks at how planning is mentioned in these. We then consider ways to plan the poetry exam, including examples of each plan and the essays produced.
Again the session includes a resource folder and a suite of videos.

Planning for grade 7+
This session is devoted to getting students aiming at the top two levels of the mark scheme to plan appropriately.
This includes how to teach a line of argument, or thesis statement, to students, and then how to implement this in the planning process. We also spend some time on what an introduction should look like with examples from students gaining marks in level 6 of the lit mark scheme.
Again, there is a folder of resources and then a video suite which can be used with students.
